Russian athletes at the Olympic games in 2020 in Tokyo will perform under the flag of Russia. The head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov said at a press conference RIA Novosti.
Pozdnyakov said that all the athletes will be dressed in the national outfit. «Representatives of athletics will also represent Russia, not some neutral status,» he said.
In early July, the OCD received an official invitation from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the Games in 2020. Then it was noted that the Russian team will perform without any restrictions or additional conditions.
In 2015 the international Association of athletics federations (IAAF) suspended the activities of the all-Russian athletics Federation (vfla) due to systematic violations of doping rules. The disqualification has since been extended repeatedly. Because of this, all Russian athletes, in addition to the jumper in length Daria Kishineu, missed the Olympic games in 2016. Athletes from Russia were forced to participate in an international competition under a neutral flag.
